Financial Aid Holds
Why do I have a hold from Financial Aid?
Financial Aid holds prevent federal aid from being disbursed.
Some of the common Financial Aid holds are:
“Title IV Packaging Hold” (FT4): For this hold you should click on it as it can be on your account for a variety of reasons.
“Financial Aid Exit Interview” (FEX): (Reason Description - "Direct Loan/Staff Exit Interview") Student must complete the Exit Interview for their Federal Direct Loan at https://studentaid.gov/. If the hold has not been removed after 2 weeks of completing the Exit Counseling, the student can send an email to finaid@bmcc.cuny.edu
A student can determine whether they have any holds on their account by logging in to CUNYfirst and going to their Student Center. Holds will appear in the “Tasks and holds” Menu. Selecting the “holds” section will open up a page that will list all the holds on the students account, including information on the date and semester it was applied, and the college and department the hold was issued from. If the hold was issued from the Financial Aid department, you can contact Financial Aid (finaid@bmcc.cuny.edu) with any questions.
