Admissions Holds

Admissions Holds occur when a student is missing a required step, fee, or document in the Admissions process. 

To see if you have any Admissions Holds on your account, go to your Student Center in CUNYfirst.  Any Holds will appear in the “holds” field to the right of the “Academics” section.  Selecting “details” in the “holds” field will open up a page that will list all the holds on your account, including information on the date and semester it was applied, the college and department the hold was issued from, as well as, any comments about what the student should do about the hold.  

If the hold was issued from the Admissions department, you can contact Admissions (admissions@bmcc.cuny.edu) with any questions. 

Common Admissions Holds are:  

Admissions Hold (ADHLD):  This is a general Admissions Hold. Please, check the comments on your hold to see how to resolve it. 

Missing Application Fee (APFEE): You need to pay your application fee in order for your admissions application to get processed. 

Conditional Admit (CONDI):  You have been admitted conditionally, pending further review or receipt of additional documents.  Check the comments on your hold to see what is required. 

GPS Orientation (GPS):  You need to complete GPS Orientation. Online Panther GPS New Student Orientation is a necessary step for new BMCC students before they can register for courses. To complete orientation view the Online Panther GPS Orientation video on Youtube here . Once you have watched the video, complete the intake form

Missing College Transcript (MSCTR):  Your college transcript has not been received. Check the comments section to see what college transcript is missing. 

Missing GED (MSGED):  Your GED has not been received. 

Missing High School Diploma (MSHDI):  Your High School Diploma has not been received. 

Missing High School Transcript (MSHTR):  Your High School Transcript has not been received.  The best way is for your counselor or guidance office to email it to us at transcripts@bmcc.cuny.edu  

Need New Application (NEWAP):  Your admissions application has expired.  Please, submit a new application here: Apply Now – BMCC (cuny.edu)
