Financial Aid Verification
Why was my financial aid application selected for verification?
Approximately a third of all financial aid applications are selected for verification by the Federal Student Aid Processing Center. The Verification process is a means to check the accuracy of the information reported on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Verification covers the information you submitted on the FAFSA, such as household size, number of family members in college, taxable and non-taxable income, asset information, etc.
If your FAFSA is selected for verification, the forms and a list of documents that are requested by the Financial Aid Office will be available in your CUNY First account. To access the list of documents, go to your "To Do List". Failure to submit all required documents will cause processing delays. Be sure to include your student ID number on each page and make copies of all documents that you are submitting to our office before you submit them.
