Proficiency and exemptions from testing for remedial courses
How do I know if I am proficient in English and Math and what are the exemptions to testing and remedial courses?

We are no longer offering the placement test for most students. The reading and writing test is only beng offered for ESL students, (students who have been educated in a non-English speaking country.)
You can get exempt from taking remedial courses based on your regents scores, or standardized test scores (SAT, ACT).
If you are NOT eligible for an exemption, your High School grade average will determine if you are Math and English proficient or if you need to take remedial courses.
