Residency

How can I get in-city residency tuition?

As a student at BMCC, the value of your tuition rates will vary dependent on your NYC residency and in-state or out-of-state status. In order to be considered an in-city student, which qualifies you for the lowest tuition rates, a student needs to have been living in New York City for over one year from the start of the relevant semester.

If you feel you meet this requirement but are not being given the according tuition rates, you may apply for New York City residency via here at the BMCC website. This application will require both the according application form and a relevant Proof of Address that not only confirms residency in NYC, but also corroborates that residency from over one year from the start of the relevant semester. BMCC provides a list of potential and useful document types for use as proof here.

If you have attended a NYC high school for at least two years, and received a diploma within five years of attending BMCC, you may likewise be eligible for NYC Residency via an additional application option on the Residency application page.

Should you live in NY State, but outside of the five boroughs, you may instead submit another Residency application option utilizing a notarizd B-1 Country Certificate of Residence. You may find more information about B-1 Forms here.
